FAQ

Wineglass Bay tours FAQ

Can you do Wineglass Bay as a day trip from Hobart?

Yes. Tours Tasmania's day tour leaves Hobart at 7.30am, Monday to Friday, and spends about four hours in Freycinet National Park.

A$169 includes park entry and a guide. Driving yourself, the park is about 2.5 to 3 hours each way.

Which days do the Wineglass Bay day tours run?

From Hobart, Monday to Friday. From Launceston, Tuesday and Thursday. Both run year round.

The cruise and the water taxi leave Coles Bay every day except Christmas Day.

Can I see Wineglass Bay without the lookout walk?

Yes, from the water: Wineglass Bay Cruises takes about 4.5 hours from Coles Bay, with no walking.

For the sand with less climbing, the water taxi drops you at Hazards Beach, then it's a 2 km walk each way on the Isthmus Track.

Do I need a Parks Pass for Wineglass Bay?

On the Tours Tasmania day tours, park entry is included.

With the water taxi you buy your own pass before you go, online at the Parks Tasmania passes site.

What happens if the cruise can't reach Wineglass Bay?

The operator runs an alternative route through the Schouten Island group.

If you'd rather not travel, you get a full refund.

In very bad weather the cruise is cancelled, with a full refund or another date if one is available.
