Hertz and Thrifty share an airport address and phone number but publish different hours. Europcar mentions a Launceston city office only in page text, with no depot page or hours, and Redspot says it has a city location without giving an address, so neither city depot is in the table yet.

Late flights and after-hours pick-up
Launceston Airport's rule is the one to plan around: its car rental operators won't take a booking for pick-up after 9pm, and if a delayed flight will land after 9pm it asks you to contact your company directly.
That doesn't always match the hours the companies publish. Budget lists 04:30 to 23:45 every day, Thrifty lists closing at 23:00 most days and Hertz lists 22:30 on weekdays without publishing its weekend hours. East Coast's page text and its structured data give different closing times. When sources disagree like this, ask the company in writing before you book a late pick-up.

No company here publishes a fixed daily rate: you get a price when you enter dates. So the cheapest option is whichever total comes back lowest for your trip, and these are the things that move it.
- Your age. East Coast Car Rentals publishes AUD 16.50 a day for each driver under 25 at Launceston Airport. Bargain Car Rentals says its Launceston Airport depot charges no young driver surcharge, and Ace Rental Cars rents from 18 with a surcharge for drivers aged 21 or under.
- The excess. Compare the excess you would owe after damage and the daily cost of reducing it, not only the headline rate.
- Where you collect. Quote the same car at an arrivals hall desk, an off-airport depot and a city depot, and look for any airport charge in the total.

If you are staying in town, a city depot saves the trip out to the airport. Hertz and Thrifty share 76 Frederick Street, Avis is at 29 Cameron Street and Budget at 147A Wellington Street.
City hours are short. Hertz's Frederick Street office is closed at weekends, Thrifty publishes weekday hours only, and Avis and Budget open 08:00 to 12:00 on Saturday and Sunday. Plan your return time around the hours in the table.
