We read each tour on its own TourRadar page on 27 October 2026. "From" is the starting price per person on the tour page that day; the price for your departure depends on the date, room and any sale running when you book. Both AAT Kings tours were on sale that day, so we show the sale price and the usual price from the tour page. The BIG 3 Tasmania price covers transport and a guide, not accommodation; the other tours list hotel nights as included. More Tasmania tours, including cycling trips and cruises, are on the TourRadar Tasmania page.

How to see Tasmania

Multi-day tour, day trip or self-drive?

Choose by how much driving you want to do and how many places you want to see.

Multi-day guided tour

One booking covers your transport between regions and the itinerary, and on most tours here your hotel nights too (The BIG 3 Tasmania leaves accommodation to you). The tours above join Cradle Mountain, Freycinet, the Bay of Fires, Strahan and Port Arthur in one trip. Best if you don't want to drive, are travelling solo or want a guide on the walks.

Compare the tours

Day trip from a city

A day out works for one highlight close to your base: Port Arthur from Hobart, or Cradle Mountain from Launceston or Devonport. With a hire car you set the start time, which matters at Cradle Mountain, where the shuttle bus to Dove Lake leaves from the visitor centre.

Cradle Mountain tours and day trips

Self-drive

A hire car or campervan lets you choose every stop and stay longer where you like it. Pick up at Hobart or Launceston airport, or at the Spirit of Tasmania terminal in Devonport if you arrive by ferry.

Routes

Tours from Hobart and from Launceston

From Hobart. 9 of these tours start in Hobart and 7 bring you back there, so you can book return flights to one airport. Famous 5 (5 days) and Super 7 (7 days) by Under Down Under Tours run the same western and northern loop; Super 7 adds Hobart and the Tasman Peninsula. For a slower trip with two nights at Cradle Mountain, Tassie's Parks and Nature by AAT Kings ends in Launceston.

From Launceston. The BIG 3 Tasmania starts in Launceston and goes to Cradle Mountain on day one, then Wineglass Bay and Port Arthur. The same tour runs in reverse from Hobart and finishes in Launceston.

Not Cradle Mountain. Two tours stay in the south: the Tasmania Food Discovery Tour in the Huon and Derwent valleys, and Intrepid's walking trip to Bruny Island and the South West.

FAQ

Tasmania tours FAQ

How many days do you need for a Tasmania tour?

The guided tours we compare run from 3 to 10 days. Three days covers Cradle Mountain, Wineglass Bay and Port Arthur at a fast pace. Four to seven days adds the west coast at Strahan and the north-east around St Helens and the Bay of Fires. Ten days gives you a full loop of the island with nights in Hobart, Strahan, Cradle Mountain and Launceston.

What is the cheapest Tasmania tour?

On 27 October 2026, the lowest "from" price on TourRadar among these tours was US$400 per person for both directions of The BIG 3 Tasmania, a 3-day tour by Tours Tasmania. That price covers transport and a guide; accommodation is not included, so add your own nights. Your price depends on the departure date and room, so open the tour and pick your dates to see it.

Do Tasmania tours start in Hobart or Launceston?

Most start in Hobart: 9 of the 10 tours here. 7 start and end in Hobart, so you fly in and out of one airport. The BIG 3 Tasmania: Launceston to Hobart starts in Launceston, and The BIG 3 Tasmania: Hobart to Launceston and Tassie's Parks and Nature finish in Launceston, which suits a flight home from the north.

Which Tasmania tours include Cradle Mountain?

8 of the 10 tours here spend at least part of a day at Cradle Mountain, from The BIG 3 Tasmania (3 days) to Tasmanian Wonders (10 days). Our Cradle Mountain tours page shows which itinerary day each one is there.

Is a guided tour or a hire car better for Tasmania?

A guided tour suits you if you do not want to drive or are travelling alone. 8 of the 10 tours here include hotel nights, so transport and beds come in one booking. The BIG 3 Tasmania does not: it covers transport and a guide, and you book your own accommodation. A hire car or campervan suits you if you want your own timetable and stops. Both work with the same airports: Hobart and Launceston.
